Cumulus Wilkes-Barre’s Top 40 Station WBHT-FM Rebrands as Hot 97.1

 CUMULUS MEDIA announces that WBHT-FM, Wilkes-Barre, PA, has rebranded today as Hot 97.1. The Top 40 station, formerly known as 97.1/95.7 bht, will continue to simulcast on 95.7 FM in the northern region. Cumulus Wilkes Barre also launched Hot 97.1’s new website today at:  www.Hot971radio.com.

IHEARTMEDIA MINNEAPOLIS NAMES BEKKI YANG SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES

iHeartMedia announced today that Bekki Yang has been elevated to Senior Vice President of Sales for Minneapolis, effective immediately. iHeartMedia Minneapolis has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than nine stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.

She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

AUDACY UNVEILS TWO NEW SHOWS

 Audacy has announced new weekday nightly programming for WFAN 101.9 FM / 660 AM (WFAN-FM/AM) in New York. Keith McPherson will join the station and be heard from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. ET, effective November 22. Sal Licata, who has been on air in a part-time role since 2018, will now host from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. ET, effective November 15.

“Keith and Sal will form a dynamic evening one-two punch, as both have the passion and drive to usher in an exciting new era on The Fan,” said Chris Oliviero, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy New York. “These hours became a must listen for decades with the iconic Steve Somers behind the microphone, and that will continue as Keith and Sal entertain the tristate area nightly be it on the road or even at home under the covers.”

iHeartMedia announced today that Howard Greiner has been named Area President for the Albany area, which includes Poughkeepsie and Sussex, NJ. Greiner will take on the position effective December 31, 2021, when current Area President Kristen Delaney retires. The iHeartMedia Albany area has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than 17 stations across three markets comprised of music, talk and news formats.

As Area President, Greiner will be responsible for creating new business and revenue opportunities as well as overseeing all programming, business and sales teams for the Albany, Poughkeepsie and Sussex, NJ markets. AUDACY WELCOMES BRIAN BENEDIK AS COMPANY’S CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER

 Audacy welcomes Brian Benedik as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer, effective December 1. As a key member of the executive team, Benedik will lead all aspects of revenue generation across corporate, national, regional and local levels and develop fully integrated, multiplatform sales solutions and breakthrough strategies to attract new revenue streams. He will report to Chief Operating Officer Susan Larkin.

Brian Benedik joins Audacy from Niantic, an AR developer platform and real world gaming publisher, where he served as VP/Global Head of Revenue. Prior to Niantic, Benedik spent over 25 years in the over-the-air and digital audio space across a number of global and U.S.-centric organizations. For seven formative years at Spotify, Benedik was a key member of the senior leadership team as SVP/Global Head of Sales and Operations leading a team of over 550 people in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions. As the leader of the Spotify Global Advertising Business, Benedik oversaw the direct, programmatic, podcast, re-seller and self-serve platform teams as well as ad and sales operations, trading, global agency and accounts and training groups.

Other previous roles include Founder and President of Katz Digital, President of Christal Radio within the Katz Media Group; and General Sales Manager for WHTZ-FM New York at iHeartMedia. Benedik has held strategic advisory roles for Audible, an Amazon company, and Targetspot, a division of Audio Valley. He is currently a board member at Podcast Tech platform, Sounder.fm, The Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University, The American Advertising Federation and PTTOW. Benedik holds degrees from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications and Columbia School of Business’ Continuing Executive Education program.

On-Air Personality Cassiday Proctor Takes Mornings on 103.3 The Edge in Buffalo, NY

 CUMULUS MEDIA announces that it has appointed on-air personality Cassiday Proctor to two new on-air posts within the company’s radio station group. Proctor moves to Mornings on Buffalo, NY, Alternative Rock station, 103.3 The Edge (WEDG-FM). She also now hosts Middays on Adult Contemporary station Classy 100 (WXKC-FM) in Erie, PA. Proctor was previously Midday host for 95.7 The Vibe (KCHZ-FM), and Afternoon host, 105.1 the X (KCJK-FM), both in Kansas City, MO, where she also served as Spotter for the Kansas City Chiefs. 

Prior to that, she was Co-Host, Mornings, and Host, Afternoons, on 106.5 The Arch (WARH-FM) in St. Louis, MO. She also hosted Mornings on Star 94 (WSTR-FM) in Atlanta, GA, and co-hosted mornings on Kiss 95.1 (WNKS-FM) in Charlotte, NC. Proctor started her radio career in 2008, as a member of the on-air team of The JB and Sandy Morning Show on Mix 94.7 (KAMX-FM) in Austin, TX. Proctor holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Wichita State University.

AUDACY REVEALS REVAMPED WEEKDAY PROGRAMMING

Audacy has announced revamped weekday programming lineups for 98.1 WOGL (WOGL-FM), B101.1 (WBEB-FM) and 96.5 TDY (WTDY-FM) in Philadelphia.

 

“These changes will enable us to provide a more premier, entertaining slate of content to our listeners on three local favorites,” said David Yadgaroff, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Philadelphia. “We trust these new lineups will best reflect the identity of each station and deliver strong results in the market.”

 

98.1 WOGL and B101.1

Effective November 15, 98.1 WOGL will welcome Coop as morning show host from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET, alongside a soon-to-be-announced co-host. Coop, who had previously hosted mornings for sister station 96.5 TDY, succeeds Glenn Kalina, who recently announced his retirement. Effective November 8, the station will also welcome Domino as afternoon drive host from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET. Domino will continue in his role as afternoon host for Orlando sister station 1059 Sunny FM (WOCL-FM). Concurrently, Bobby Smith will transition to host afternoon drive on B101.1 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET.

Forbes also led strategic and commercial partnership teams to broaden and deepen reader experiences from Apple News to the digitization of millions of historic photos with Google Cloud. With her leadership, the sales team drove multi-million dollar deals and beat goals.

Previously, Forbes was The New York Times’ VP Corporate Strategy & Development leading new ventures, off-platform relationships, and M&A; and programming the Board of Directors’ special committee on Technology & Innovation. 

Prior to that, Forbes was Vice President of Strategy at Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational media company, where she advanced the company’s EdTech initiatives and led international expansion in India. She has also held digital advertising strategy and subscriber marketing roles at Viacom and HBO, respectively. 

Forbes earned her MBA in Marketing from Columbia Business School and her Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Information Systems from New York University’s Stern School of Business.


WESTWOOD ONE SIGNS NEW THREE-YEAR DEAL WITH THE BOB & TOM SHOW

Radio One Welcomes DJ Nailz to Columbus, Ohio

Radio One, a division of Urban One − the largest distributor of urban content in the country, has appointed Marc “Nailz” Dixon as midday host and Assistant Programming Director for WCKX, Power 1075/1063 Radio One Columbus. Dixon will join Radio One on 8th November 2021.


Marc “DJ Nailz” Dixon started his radio career at WPYO Orlando as an intern and worked his way up to hosting the station’s number one night show. His ratings success at WPYO earned him a big promotion to nights at sister station, WEDR (99 Jamz)/Miami. Two years later, in October 2016, Nailz returned to Power 95.3 as morning host and later as host of the afternoon drive.
