In recognition of a shared ethos and commitment to both entrepreneurial independence and artistic integrity, Commission Records aligns with Big Noise for a newly minted partnership.
Home to a bevy of multiplatinum hip-hop trailblazers, Commission will now project its vision to the widest audience possible via Big Noise’s extensive resources as a multi-faceted media company with reach in recordings, publishing, e-sports and live festival properties. The deal includes equity purchase as well as significant funding for marketing, promotion, staff expansion and infrastructure. Under this alliance, Commission Founder and C.E.O. Anthony Martini will implement his proven tactics to develop business opportunities for both partners, integrating into a collective culture.
Evidencing the success of their approach, Martini’s company quietly arrived as an urban chart share leader in 2018, placing ahead of heavyweights like Roc Nation, 300 Entertainment, and HITCO, to name a few. Not to mention, roster successes span five platinum records, five gold records, six consecutive Top 10 urban records, and 4 billion streams worldwide to date.
While several suitors jockeyed to land the indie powerhouse, ultimately Commission CEO, Anthony Martini found kindred spirits in Big Noise as a company built for artists by artists. With founders like entrepreneur and musician, C.E.O. Nick Gross who created an ecosystem of innovation at Gross Labs, his entertainment and creative shop. He and his team have created various resources specifically designed to support musicians and creatives including the Noise Nest, a brand new, 5,000 square foot state-of-the-art recording studio in Hollywood, Big Noise Live to support their talent in creating unparalleled events, Rogue E-Sports, various podcasts featuring top talent, and more. Gross has also produced music for everyone from Ariana Grande to Wiz Khalifa and drums for Half the Animal. As well as the company’s Head of A&R John Feldmann and President Jon Cohen who as co-founder of Vagrant launched the careers of The 1975, Edward Sharpe and others before heading up recorded music for BMG
“The spirit of Commission has always been about betting on yourself, so it was a natural fit to align with guys like Nick and Jon who truly have skin in the game” explains Martini, “these artists trust us with their livelihood, I want to go into battle with a team who understands the importance of that because they've been there.”
“I’ve known the Commission guys for years and have marveled at the company’s track record of betting early, and correctly, on winning talent. Ant is a hardcore A and R man, passionate and committed, a perfect ethos for Big Noise. We’re beyond excited to be partnering with him.” Says Jon Cohen of the partnership.
