Pack up your celebration gear and travel to the UNESCO world heritage site of Québec City for the grand 50th Anniversary of Festival d’été de Québec, one of the oldest music festivals in North America. The event coincides with the 150th Anniversary of Canada, so there will be lots to do and see. A unique vacation destination, a cultural hot spot and a singular summer music mecca rolled into one, the Festival’s star-studded party will present a wildly diverse line-up featuring international headliners, the latest trending talents, and tomorrow’s big names for a ticket price that can’t be beat–less than $80 U.S. for the entire 11-day Festival.
Beyond the sensational roster of rock, punk, hip-hop, jazz, folk, electronic, and francophone music, FREE 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENTS will include Plasticiens Volants, a fantastical parade of giant puppets floating overhead through the streets; concerts by L’orchestre d’hommes-orchestres playing on instruments hand-made from recycled materials; the Transe Express street theater troupe of trapeze artists, acrobats, and an opera singer who perform while hanging from a colossal mobile; and 50 Summers of FEQ, a curated, multi-media exhibition of mementos from the Festival’s archives.
