iHeartMedia Philadelphia’s Power 99, Philadelphia’s Hip Hop & R&B, and 105.3 WDAS FM, Philly’s Best R&B and Throwbacks, and Wells Fargo launched today “Teach and Reach” – a year-long campaign that honors outstanding teachers and recognizes their impact on the community.
Power 99 and 105.3 WDAS FM’s on-air personalities will encourage listeners to visit Power99.com and WDASFM.com and nominate a teacher from the Tri-State area with more than three years of experience. Each month, the stations will select a teacher who will receive a $1000.00 reward to spend as they choose and an additional $1000.00 to spend on various classroom needs, such as school supplies.
“We know how important teachers are to the future of our youth and how many sacrifices they make every day for their students,” said Derrick “DC” Corbett, iHeartMedia Philadelphia’s Director of Urban Programming. “This is our way of letting them know how much they matter.”
“Being a teacher is one of the most rewarding and challenging careers anyone can choose, and we’re proud to partner with Power 99 and 105.3 WDAS FM to recognize the contributions these leaders have made to our community,” said Joe Kirk, Wells Fargo’s Philadelphia Region President. “This award is part of our commitment to supporting classrooms across the region and making sure that teachers and students have the tools they need to have a productive learning experience.”
The prizes are awarded from money raised by iHeartMedia Philadelphia through an additional $1.00 added to the price of a ticket to the annual Power 99 Powerhouse Concert with additional funds for the classroom contributed by Wells Fargo, Philadelphia.
