Due to winter precipitation that is expected to leave icy road conditions, Howard University will open tomorrow, February 11, 2019 on a two-hour delayed schedule. Classes and student activities will start at 10 a.m., therefore any classes that are normally scheduled to start before 10 a.m. are canceled. Essential personnel are still required to report at their regularly scheduled time unless otherwise arranged with their supervisor. If anything changes, you will be notified.
The safety of the campus community is always our top priority. BrightView Landscape crews have treated the streets, sidewalks, ramps, steps and parking lots on campus. However, everyone is urged to continue to use good judgment and exercise caution while you traverse the campus and city streets. Be especially conscious of black ice that could develop overnight.
As secondary and tertiary road conditions are expected to impact travel in some areas of our region, drivers are asked to limit their travel to main streets, if possible. Commuters should allow for more travel time as well. Area transportation officials have warned that delays may occur.
Please report all weather-related and HVAC maintenance issues and concerns through Physical Facilities Management’s work order portal (https://www2.howard.edu/departments/pfm/requests). All safety concerns will be addressed by the Department of Public Safety at 202-806-1100.
