Mitch Glazier Named New CEO & Chairman of RIAA

Mitch Glazier

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has named a new CEO and chairman, Mitch Glazier, formerly a senior staffer for the House Judiciary Committee. He replaces Cary Sherman, appointed as CEO in 2011.

Glazier has a background in legal advocacy over music rights. As a House Judiciary Committee staffer in the 90s, Glazier is credited with a key role in pushing the Digital Performance Right in Sound Recordings Act (DPRA) into law. The Act emerged alongside the early proliferation of digital formats and guaranteed musician compensation from digital streaming services.

Working with Glazier will be Michele Ballantyne, moving to Operating Officer, formerly a special assistant to President Bill Clinton and special counsel to White House of Staff John Podesta.
