Legendary producer Quincy Jones, recently honored in the TIFF-premiered documentary “Quincy”, has invested in invite-only Jammcard, a social network startup for musicians, in its initial $1 million seed funding round.

Two of the features promised by Jammcard are its exclusive, members-only events and its networking and connecting functions, allowing members to acquire musician services easily.  These functions have recently earned it the informal moniker of ‘LinkedIn for musicians’ from some. The app has already proven successful in assembling live bands from Gwen Stefani, Zedd, and Jason Derulo among others.

Jones comments on his involvement with Jammcard:

“I’m excited and supportive about what Jammcard is doing for music professionals… Jammcard elevates the industry in new ways, from connections and new opportunities, to helping represent themselves in a freelance world.”

Elmo Lovano, founder of Jammcard, has commented on Jones’ support:

I’m honored to have Quincy on the Jammcard team. I love that he’s continued to push jazz and real talent forward, and I can’t wait to see where our working relationship leads. Quincy’s endorsement excites me on another level, and I will use that fire to continue to work as hard as I can to grow true value for the professional music .
