Sam Hunt to Perform with Grammy Camp

sam huntThursday, February 11, 2016 More than 400 students from the greater Los Angeles area — including 350 from the L.A. Unified School District — will be joining in a special celebration with Grammy nominated Country artist, Sam Hunt. Prior to the concert, the students will have participated in the GRAMMY Foundation’s GRAMMY Career Day program at their school with the support of Los Angeles Unified School District’s Beyond The Bell Branch. GRAMMY Career Day is a one-day event that brings music industry professionals together with high school students to make them aware of careers that are available in music and present a behind-the-scenes look into the industry. These students are also given a careers-in-music lesson taught by their music teachers and developed by the USC Thornton School of Music.

Attendees include members of GRAMMY Camp® — Jazz Session along with special guest performer and current two-time GRAMMY® nominee, Sam Hunt; Pamela Alexander, director, community development, Ford Motor Company Fund; and Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy® and the GRAMMY Foundation®. The recipient of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation’s third annual Music Educator Award™ will also be in attendance.

Sam Hunt’s debut album Montevallo on MCA Nashville topped the Billboard Country Albums Chart in its first week and remains the best-selling debut album for a country artist since 2011. Montevallo landed on multiple “best of 2014” lists including lists by the Associated Press, Billboard, Country Weekly, Los Angeles Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, SPIN Magazine, Village Voice and The Washington Post. The album has so far produced three consecutive No. 1 platinum-selling singles with “Leave The Night On,” “House Party” and the double-platinum “Take Your Time,” plus Hunt’s latest Top 5 (and climbing) platinum-selling single, “Break Up In A Small Town.” The monumental album has spent more than a year in the Top 10 on the country album sales chart — nine of those weeks at No. 1.
