“Saturday Night Live” Emmy-Nominated Star Kenan Thompson To Host Season 9 Premiere of BYUtv’s “Studio C – Live From NYC”


BYUtv, a family entertainment network, today announced that its original sketch comedy series, “Studio C,” will present “Studio C – Live from NYC” hosted by Emmy-nominated “Saturday Night Live” star Kenan Thompson on Fri., Aug. 24. Two live comedy shows will take place in New York City at Manhattan Center's Hammerstein Ballroom at 6:30pm and 9:30pm ET. The shows will be filmed for a one hour television special that will air as the ninth season premiere of “Studio C” on BYUtv, Mon., Sept. 10 at 7pm MT and will repeat at 10pm MT.

Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com for $10, $20 and $30 in late July. The proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish Metro New York, the organization that creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. “Studio C – Live from NYC” will feature all-new sketches featuring the fan-favorite cast. Kenan Thompson, who is the longest-running cast member in the history of “Saturday Night Live,” will join them in hilarious sketches, in addition to hosting the event.

Emmy-nominated actor/comedian Kenan Thompson will return this fall for his 16th season on “Saturday Night Live.” He has made numerous contributions to the show with his slew of hilarious impressions that include Rev. Al Sharpton, Charles Barkley and Steve Harvey, along with many memorable characters. Thompson made his television debut as a member of Nickelodeon's all-kid sketch comedy series “All That.” In 1996, he and his partner Kel Mitchell debuted on a spin-off show, “Kenan and Kel.” He has also appeared in such feature films as “Fat Albert,” “D2: The Mighty Ducks,” “Good Burger,” “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle,” “Brother Nature, ” “Heavyweights,” “My Boss'sDaughter,” “Barbershop 2,” “Going in Style, ” “They Came Together” and “Snakes on a Plane.”
