Sony Names Sol Rashidi Executive Vice President and Chief Data Officer

Sony Music Entertainment announced today that Sol Rashidi has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Data Officer. She will be based in New York City and report to President, Global Digital Business and U.S. Sales, Dennis Kooker.

The role is newly created, but Rashidi will be responsible for building and leading a global team focused on advancing Sony’s Music’s data strategy. This position will see her building and overseeing predictive tools and analytics platforms to enhance Sony’s Music capabilities in artist and partner solutions, commercial strategy, marketing, and A&R. In addition to these roles, she will develop business intelligence and technology for use across the company’s labels and business units.

Rashidi previously worked for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Ltd., before joining Sony Music. There she served as Chief Data and Cognitive Officer. She also worked at Ernst & Young LLP as a partner in Data & Analytics practice. Prior to that work, she spent several years with IBM. There she was a part of the first generation of leaders taking Watson to market.

Rashidi’s education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a dual MBAs in Business Administration and Strategy & Leadership from Pepperdine University.
