Buzzed about hip hop artist Souly Had whose music has garnered more than 40 million global artist streams releases a new track “Paradise” via Island Records just in time for the summer! Listen HERE. This single follows the release of “Hills” (LISTEN HERE) and anticipates his forthcoming debut EP which will feature previous releases “Crush” and “Overrated.”
Souly Had is a singer/songwriter/producer from Duanesburg, NY (just outside Albany, NY). As a member of the hip-hop collective Entreband, a crew of self-starting, like-minded artists and creatives, he has developed a pop/R&B sound all his own. It’s a far cry from when he was making the rounds at local rap shows at age 16. As a digital imaging student at Community College, he would “go on YouTube and try to find dope music,” he told Times Union, his hometown newspaper last summer. Before long, he was making beats on his iPhone and eventually through Beat Pad. As he began working with Entreband, his cohort Tom C Bumpz, and local platinum-selling producer Purpdogg, Souly Had combined rapping with more R&B-styled singing, experimenting with melodies and arrangements. The positive comments he received on his Soundcloud account convinced him that he was heading in the right direction.
When Souly Had dropped “Déjà vu” in early 2017, and a hip-hop influencer tweeted it out, the track pulled over 10,000 plays within 24 hours. Suddenly, he and his parents realized that a music career was possible. “I never went back (to school).” Putting the Souly Had catalog on Spotify was the next step and, sure enough, one of his tracks was quickly included on Spotify-branded playlists. The platform soon included three more of his songs on its playlists, and he was being regularly incorporated into the platform’s radio stations. Souly Had was developing a solid, growing audience. “They (the streaming numbers) kept climbing up and climbing exponentially. (Now) I don’t want to waste any time. I want to keep on point. I don’t want to keep fans waiting.”
