Following news of their forthcoming album Five, today  are pleased to share new track “” alongside its lyric video.

Watch and listen HERE.

To be released on February 1, 2019 through [PIAS] Recordings, Five sees the trio return following its predecessor, 2016’s Friends, while marking the tenth anniversary since their inception.

Already established as a band favorite, lyricist and bass player Charles Cave comments of “Finish Line”; “We are all hugely attached to this song, and really excited to share it prior to the album being released. Much like album-opener ‘Time To Give’, the track has an ambitious structure – one emanating from our love of Prog. At its heart, it’s a simple song about a young couple’s break-up negotiations, I like to hope the music itself takes the listener through the emotional ups and downs. It’s up there as one our best songs and we hope our fans think so too.”

The band are also pleased to announce details of a unique partnership with the help of the RNIB and have created the Five braille lyric companion book – which contains the entire lyrics of the album in braille, very much a first. Having started using Kobigraph in the album artwork designs, the band became very passionate about including some tactile braille in the campaign. Unfortunately, due to mass-market practicalities it soon became apparent that it would have to be a more bespoke, limited item but one that fans would want to keep.

Cave comments: “I got in touch with the RNIB, somewhat unsure as to whether they’d be interested at all, but their reaction was immediately one of enthusiasm as it was a project they’d never seen the like of before. Working closely with them and our artist Casey Roarty, we soon found a way of producing a book-size edition that would safely keep the braille usable and be an aesthetically beautiful item.”

The RNIB’s Brenda Ramsey adds; “The RNIB and White Lies collaboration has been an exciting project. We worked with the band to translate the lyrics of Five into braille and then printed them in a beautiful limited-edition book. The donations RNIB receives from each book will go directly to supporting our work in creating a society without barriers for people with sight loss.”

Limited to a run of 500 hand numbered copies, a £10 donation from every sale will go to RNIB. Purchase via whitetlies.com

Five sees the West-London trio scaling new creative heights with re-energized confidence. The landscape has drastically changed over the past decade, contemporaries have come and gone, consumerism constantly evolving but White Lies fans have remained as fervent and committed as ever both in the UK and internationally.

As the band explains; “This is a mile stone record for White Lies. It marks our decade as a band, which has pushed us to expand our sound and reach new territory artistically – it marks the start of a new and exciting chapter for us.”

Written and recorded on both sides of the Atlantic (guitarist and vocalist Harry McVeigh resides in San Francisco) the band paired up with Ed Buller, engineer James Brown (, Foo Fighters) in Los Angeles and London and saw Alan Moulder on mixing duties. Bolder than previous outings, Five arrives spanning new creative heights amidst an ever-evolving musical backdrop providing an insightful, intimate, and at times very personal slant lyrically. A couple of tracks also feature synth and keyboard contributions courtesy of renowned producer Flood.

White Lies are: Harry McVeigh (lead vocals, guitar), Charles Cave (bass, b/vocals) and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums)

Five will be available on ltd edition vinyl, vinyl, CD and digitally.
